Hal Tiné - Design Biography

Hal Tiné has been active in Lyric and Legitimate theater for his entire career. He has designed sets for the Broadway productions of "JERRY'S GIRLS", and "THE TRIP BACK DOWN", and National Tour sets for "JERRY'S GIRLS", among others. Television, Regional Theatre, Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway credits number over 100, featuring designs for The Metropolitan Opera, Connecticut Ballet, New York Grand Opera, The Guthrie Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Long Wharf Theatre, ABC News and NBC. He designed the majority of the sets for New York Grand Opera's eight year "Viva Verdi!" Festival in Central Park and continues his association with them for "TURANDOT" in August. Mr. Tiné is design consultant to the T. Schreiber Studio in New York.

Through his company, PINXIT, he has consulted on design for such arts organizations as The Metropolitan Opera, The New York Philharmonic Orchestra, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Smithsonian Institution, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the New-York Historical Society; and to corporate clients such as IBM, Kraft Foods, Holland America Lines, American Express, and Pitney-Bowes.

He has been an adjunct member since 1988 of the Design/Technology faculty of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film at Purchase College, State University of New York. His designs have been published in "Scenery for the Theatre", by Burroughs and Sporre, and "The Creative Image", by Sporre. Mr. Tiné is a full member of United Scenic Artists, LU 829.
